Lifestyle and Attractions
With a population of more than 20,000, Taylors is a large suburb nestled between the larger city of Greenville and the smaller city of Greer, which are located about 8 and 5 miles away, respectively. On average, Taylors residents spend 21 minutes per day commuting to their workplace, which may be located in Greer, Greenville, and other nearby cities. The community comes together with a variety of events throughout the year, including Enchanted Tracks, a fall festival with trick-or-treating and other Halloween activities. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation at the Pavilion Recreation Complex, with an ice-skating rink, football field, tennis courts, a dog park, an indoor bounce house, and more. Taylors is focused on the arts, evident in Taylors Mill, an arts complex hosting an event space, a coffee shop, studio space for local artists, and more. This is a central community hub for events, gatherings, and artistic activities.

History
Taylors was home to a resort from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century. Activity centered on Chick Springs, a mineral spring thought to have healing powers. Settlers were drawn to the springs, so Dr. Burwell Chick, a resident of Charleston, purchased the land surrounding the spring and built a resort community.
The Southern Railway arrived in the area during the 1870s, which shifted the focus of Taylors from the springs to the property of a man named Alfred Taylor. A railroad depot was built on his land, which eventually became known as Taylor’s Station, inspiring the present-day name of Taylors. Beginning in the early 1900s, the heart of town was near the intersection of Taylors Road and Main Street.
Taylors was never incorporated as a city, although area residents have expressed concern about the tax base, and have therefore pushed for the creation of a municipal government.
